Job Summary:

  • Provides the HSSE support to the site to ensure the safe delivery of the day, compliance with the Company’s Standards, good industry practices and local legislative requirements where applicable.
  • Will work in partnership with the site OIM and the Corporate HSSE function to develop, implement, maintain and enhance effective HSSE systems and practices.
  • Will provide visible personal leadership on HSSE matters, setting of standards, carrying out audits, reviews of performance and implementing improvements where required. 
  • Support the Safe Delivery of the Day  
  • Facilitate preparation of TRAs and PTWs.
  • Risk assessor to work plans developed by contractors
  • Conduct daily HSSE inspections to the work fronts
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Management System, Environmental Management System, Operational Safety Case and the Competency Assurance Scheme
  • Supervise safe delivery of operational tasks  
  • Participate in the Daily Morning Call & follow up of HSSE issues for the site
  • Ensure the site conducts regular oil spill drills  
  • Drive “intervention” and ‘BBS’ at the coalface, including delivery of training to new hires and contractors
  • Ensure contractors conform to the Company standards. 
  • HSSE Assurance
  • Plan and support delivery of HSSE level 3 audit schedule on site
  • Support the HSSE level 2 audits and close-out of actions
  • Audit job sites for compliance with PTW and TRA controls
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure the site complies with the environmental permit, the Company’s HSSE Standards and ISO14001 Standard
  • Ensure facilities are in compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Ensure contractor personnel are compliant with the Company’s Fitness for Work requirement.
  • Support the HSSE Committee  
  • Prepare and update site specific HSSE procedures and documents (Facilities ERP, Spill Plan and Induction)  
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis of incidents
  • Review lessons learnt bulletins and plan improvement actions. 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in working in the oil and gas sector as an HSSE professional
  • Experience in working in the industrial construction field with in-depth HSSE field work
  • Experience of Emergency Response Roles, Plans and activities
  • Training as evidenced by the possession of internationally accepted HSSE qualifications/certifications (OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.)
  • Sound negotiating skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as being able to be a self-starter
  • Ability to communicate to personnel at a managerial level
  • Able to work with deadlines in a timely and professional manner.
  • Good knowledge of local HSSE legislation and international best practices.
